The Work of the Lancashire Black Police Association

A key part of our work at the Lancashire Black Police Association is to build trust and confidence between Lancashire Constabulary and the county's black and minority ethnic communities. One way of doing this is to play an active role in improving the recruitment, retention and progression of BME staff by promoting Lancashire Constabulary as an employer of choice to those communities.

We were launched as an association in November 1997, and since that time, we have worked hard to promote equality of opportunity within the Constabulary, giving positive input into the field of race and cultural awareness. In addition, we provide a social network and offer active help to our members in finding and using mainstream services such as the services of the Police Federation.

It would be naïve of anyone to think that racism does not exist, and that's why we are working harder than ever to encourage better communication, greater understanding and fairer opportunities for all.

If you have a problem with which we may be able to help - or if you have any views or ideas that you would like to bring to our attention, then please contact us. We'd be glad to hear from you.
